Zak first noticed his love of speed and competition in 2003 at the age of 9 while racing go-karts and going to weekly car races with his family. After success racing go-karts which included two point championships with the Southern Indiana Racing Association. The World Karting Association Championship two years in a row. The National title for The King of Concrete in North Carolina, Zak is the first person from Indiana to win this title. He won two national indoor kart championships in Tunica Mississippi which was aired on ESPN. He has also won several other races on dirt, asphalt and road courses. Zak has been in several different magazine articles noting his accomplishments.

The years of racing go-karts must have helped Zak because it was apparent that he had a talent for driving by finishing 3rd in the Crate Late Model feature on his very first night out. And this was with a 20 car field!

While racing only the second half of the 2007 season, he finished in the top five in eight of the ten feature races, and even won a heat race. He then set his eyes on the 2008 season and the 2008 Track Championship.

With Zak only being 14 years old he amazed the fans and the track management by finishing in the top five in all but three of the fifteen races, and he won two heat races. His hard work and dedication paid off at the close of the season when he won the last feature race of the season and he was awarded the 2008 Crate Late Model Championship at Twin Cities Raceway Park.

In 2010 he won the Indiana Late Model Series Points Championship.

In the 2013 season Zak would like to travel to different Race Tracks and compete in National events. He would even like to move up to an Open Late Model and race on asphalt. His goal is to someday race NASCAR. With a kid this determined and focused you never know where you might see him.
